FBLA teams with fifth-graders for mock interviews, Wray field trip

Holyoke FBLA members revived a beloved fifth-grade program this month and gave local students the chance to interview for their dream jobs ahead of a scheduled visit to Wray’s Rural AmeriTowne.
FBLA member Josie Herman, who organized the program along with Emily Jelden and Shianne Willmon, said the March 5 mock interviews at Holyoke Elementary School and March 13 field trip will teach students the importance of shopping local.
“This way, kids can understand how business works and why it’s so important to keep their money in town,” she said.
Herman and Jelden both said they have fond memories of visiting Rural AmeriTowne as fifth-graders.
“It’s honestly one of the most fun field trips I’ve ever been on,” Jelden said.
She explained that the hands-on education offered by the model town is the best way of teaching kids why putting money back into their community is important.
