Gallegos promoted to new director of Dept. of Agriculture’s ICS

Denver, Colo. — The Colorado Department of Agriculture has hired acting Division Director for the Inspection and Consumer Services Division Mark Gallegos as permanent director of the division. Gallegos was promoted internally and is replacing Hollis Glenn, who has moved into the role of the deputy commissioner of operations for department.

“Mark’s many years of experience working in the Inspection and Consumer Services Division and his recent role as its acting director are incredible assets to CDA and our ag communities,” Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg said. “Mark brings with him the skills necessary to lead a team of inspectors and other staff who deal with issues as broad as fertilizer use, produce safety, pet animal facilities and farm dispute mediation. His more than 25 years at CDA, as well as his family’s 500-year history of farming and ranching in Colorado, have allowed him to be well versed in the many functions of the division and highlight his commitment to Colorado agriculture.”

Gallegos began working for the Department of Agriculture in 1997. He began his career as a grain warehouse examiner. In 2002, he became the Farm Products Program manager. Before becoming acting director of Inspection and Consumer Services, he was section chief of the Technical Services Section. In that role, he developed strategic planning and analysis and directed administration and daily operations for the section. His regulatory work has given him an opportunity to engage with a wide range of industries including livestock, grain and feed manufacturing.
