HEA crews still busy with storm cleanup

Massive clean-up efforts have been underway by Highline Electric Association following two damaging wind storms June 6 and June 8-9.

As of Friday, June 19, there were 268 broken poles in Highline’s service territory, with potentially more yet to be discovered, said Kris Camblin.

The damage was widespread, he said, affecting eight out of Highline’s 11 counties. The worst area was New Haven, which is south of Fleming.

Some poles broke simply because of strong straight line winds, while others were hit with debris. No tornadic activity was reported.
