HHS saddles up for FFA Week

Holyoke rallied around its local FFA chapter, Feb. 19-23, during National FFA Week, which calls members around the country to share how the organization is enriching their lives and neighbors.
Although the annual celebrations were limited to four days by the observance of Presidents Day, students packed in hands-on activities involving livestock, tractors, gravity irrigation and more.
The week kicked off Tuesday morning with a teacher and staff appreciation breakfast, including pancakes cooked by FFA officers.
On Wednesday, students hopped in their tractors for their morning commute to HHS, and Thursday saw Holyoke JR/SR High students compete in the Ag Olympics. Challenges included an egg toss, lassoing, hay toting, building a livestock pen and starting a gravity irrigation pipe by hand.
