Kelley brings back local ownership and operation

Tammy Kelley has announced that she will be opening the firm of Kelley Law, Ltd. in Holyoke. Joining her as Of Counsel will be Kimbra “Kim” Killin. Both are departing from Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather, LLP, to return to a locally owned and operated firm practicing primarily in Phillips County and northeastern Colorado.

Kelley Law opened its doors to clients July 6, providing estate planning, probate, land transactions and general legal counsel to families, agricultural interests, small businesses and corporations, and local government.

Explaining her premise for the new firm, Kelley stated, “When I moved to Holyoke and northeast Colorado, I wanted to be a part of a community and a local firm where the emphasis was on serving the people and the needs in the area, while also having a quality of life that I was missing living in Denver. While most people in law school wanted to join big firms, I tried to talk a friend into buying an RV and going to rural locations to provide legal services where there were none.”

Rather than buying an RV, Kelley bought “the Geist house” and has planted roots in the Holyoke community and hopes to continue those ideals that were present in the firm of Colver, Killin and Sprague, LLP. At CKS, partners David Colver, Killin and Russell Sprague continued a legacy of excellent legal services to the region that began in 1921. When Kelley joined the firm in 2016, the three partners provided leadership, encouragement, knowledge and mentoring that has been invaluable.

“Colver, Killin and Sprague each has a different way of practicing, and all three demonstrate excellence in a way that I want to emulate as I approach my clients and the matters presented to me,” Kelley said.

“My greatest joy in starting Kelley Law is working alongside Kim Killin, who will continue to serve a limited number of legacy clients. The hardest decision in this venture is the reality of no longer working in the same firm with David Colver and Russell Sprague, who will both continue to serve clients under Cline Williams. Although I will greatly miss working alongside these friends and attorneys, I look forward to their promised encouragement and mentoring.”
