Kilpatrick is new county veterans service officer

Jeremy Kilpatrick assumed his duties as Phillips County Veterans Service Officer effective Monday, Sept. 20. Steve Firme will still assist Kilpatrick in the background.

“I look up to him as a great veteran leader and mentor,” Kilpatrick said of Firme.

Kilpatrick is no stranger to the military, veterans or their needs. He was in the Navy from 2011-2015 and worked as a logistics specialist. His job involved improving efficiency every day, experience that will serve him well in his role in helping county veterans access the funds they are entitled to. His brother is also currently serving in the Navy.

Having grown up in Akron and now living in Haxtun, Kilpatrick is very familiar with northeast Colorado communities. He said he will be a liaison between veterans and all the benefits they have available and deserve.
