Locals recognized for excellence in food safety

Happy Jacks Barbeque, Pizza p.a.d. and Holyoke Elementary School are three of only 15 establishments across northeast Colorado that received Excellence in Food Safety Awards for 2017. These awards are not easy to obtain; there are 472 establishments across the region eligible to receive this award at the beginning of each year.
During the first full week of April each year, the American Public Health Association brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week. It is a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are critical to improving the nation.
The Northeast Colorado Health Department is celebrating public health champions in local communities, including Public Health Shining Stars and Excellence in Food Safety Awards. Both awards are very significant as they honor those whose hard work and dedication lead to the betterment of the communities and go above and beyond in protecting the public’s health.
