Lori Lundgren hired as director of human services

Born and raised in Haxtun, Lori Lundgren has made a career of helping others in her community and Phillips County as a whole. Most recently, she’s done so as the director of Phillips County Department of Human Services. Last November she assumed the role of interim director, and in January she was hired as the department’s permanent director.

Lundgren’s work with the County began in July 2009 as a caseworker for child welfare and adult protection. It was previous time spent as a volunteer victim advocate, however, that first made her realize that she wanted to work in the field and prompted her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Phoenix.

In 2013, Lundgren was promoted to supervisor of child welfare and adult protection. She remained in that role until she became the director of the department.

Not one to focus on her own achievements, she downplayed the progress of her career, saying simply, “I just enjoy working with people and helping people.” She also emphasized that the human services employees do a great job, making the task of overseeing them easy.
