Mason transitions to general manager role at Paoli Co-op

Even in the midst of corn harvest, Shawna Mason experienced a smooth transition to her new role as general manager of Paoli Co-op.

Mason is settling into the position after taking the reins the beginning of October.

She has 16 years of experience at co-ops, including operations in Julesburg, Amherst and Grant, Nebraska. Mason served as assistant manager at Paoli Co-op for nine years.

Former general manager Steve Bahnsen had started a succession plan in 2010, knowing that retirement was in his future. Mason said that when she was hired, the intent was for her to take over as general manager.

She added that Bahnsen and the co-op have been great about giving her opportunities for experience and training that prepared her for this position. She even got some hands-on training while observing operations in Argentina in 2016.

Mason will continue overseeing operations at Paoli Co-op, and she’s especially excited to work with farmers on their marketing plans and helping them reach their goals.
