May 13 workshop details common local insects

Whitney Cranshaw, a Colorado State University Extension entomologist, will be presenting a workshop on common insects in the area Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Burlington Library, 321 14th St.

Attendees will learn about the life cycles of insects and tips on how to control the insects. This is helpful if there is an outbreak in a home’s landscape. However, some insects are just a nuisance for a short time because they are migrating from one place to another, and the landscape is in its path.

This workshop will benefit both beginners and others with advanced knowledge about common insects. Cranshaw is entertaining and brings a lot of interesting facts about insects that he has acquired over the years.

If attendees have an insect they would like him to identify, take it to the workshop in a small bottle or container.

RSVP by contacting Linda Langelo at the Sedgwick County Extension office, 970-474-3479, or Karen or Jean at the Kit Carson County Extension office, 719-346-5571.
