MMH narrows CEO choice to 3

Members of the Board of Directors for East Phillips County Hospital District met for a quick month-end meeting Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Melissa Memorial Hospital.

They were excited to announce that candidates for CEO have been narrowed down to three. 

The community is invited to a breakfast meet and greet with Michael Hassell on Monday, Oct. 10, Trevor Collins on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Lamont Cook on Friday, Oct. 14. All of the events will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Phillips County Event Center.

“I think we have fabulous candidates,” said board member Sheila Gift.

 

Other business

In other business at the Sept. 27 meeting, the board:

— Heard an administrator’s report from interim CEO Stella Worley.

— Heard a financial report from Chief Financial Officer David Applewood. For the month of August, total revenue was $1.9 million, total expenses were $2.1 million, and there was a loss in net income of $248,000.

— Heard a Quality Committee report from Karen Hooker. She pointed out that while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention loosened its mask guidelines for health facilities recently, they are still waiting to see what Governor Jared Polis will do for Colorado.

— Approved credentialing for two initial applicants and four reappointments.

— Reviewed Policy 2.6 regarding asset protection, Policy 1.2 regarding achievements within resources, Governance Policy 3.4 regarding monitoring administrator performance and Governance Policy 4.8 regarding governance investment.

— Tabled the review of Policy 2.9 regarding emergency administrator succession and Policy 2.8 regarding board management until a permanent CEO is hired.

— Held an executive session for strategy and contracts.
