MMH settles in to 2021

Staff at Melissa Memorial Hospital have been busy with new laws that went into effect Jan. 1. Members of the East Phillips County Hospital District Board of Directors heard an update from Human Resources Director Tiffany DiMartino at their Tuesday, Jan. 5, meeting.

She said they have been working on requirements for paid sick and safe time, an extended illness policy and the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. They are also looking ahead to the Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act.

The board also heard an update from CEO Cathy Harshbarger.

She pointed out that there is a shortage of nurses nationwide, and traveler charges are the highest seen. In light of this, MMH recently adjusted its registered nurse wages to reflect the market standard.
