The Colorado Association of Superintendents and Senior Administrators, a department within the Colorado Association of School Executives, has awarded Northeast BOCES Executive Director Bret Miles with the 2019 Colbert Cushing Award.

The annual award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding professional contribution and/or provided outstanding service to CASE/CASSA, to a school district or to education on a national level.

“Being recognized by my fellow CASSA peers is incredibly meaningful,” Miles said. “Every single CASSA member can name five or six other members who are doing something extraordinary right now on behalf of students, educators and their communities. So, when your colleagues take the time to single you out for some recognition, it is quite humbling and the highest honor.”

Miles was nominated by Englewood Schools Superintendent Wendy Rubin, who said, “Bret is a tireless champion for schools! He has been instrumental in numerous initiatives and myriad policy work,” referencing his strong involvement in the Amendment 73 campaign last year.
