PA student returns to hometown for rotation at MMH

Erin Vieselmeyer is on the last leg of a journey to become a physician assistant, and her first stop will be in Holyoke, her hometown.

Vieselmeyer is on track to earn her Master of Physician Assistant degree from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin, in August 2020. But first, she must complete 11 four-week rotations.

Two of the rotations must be at family practice facilities. Her first will be at Melissa Memorial Hospital’s Family Practice of Holyoke, followed by another rotation in Wray.

Additional rotations will take her to Nebraska, Wyoming, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Florida.

Vieselmeyer, who is a 2013 graduate of Holyoke High School, is excited that she gets to kick things off in her hometown.

From Aug. 26-Sept. 19, she will primarily be shadowing Lane Looka, a family nurse practitioner. Her goal is to get comfortable with the job, learn the basics and get a feel for what patients are looking for from a physician assistant.
