PC Telcom ahead of the curve in demand for better broadband

Reviewing 2016 achievements and future projects, PC Telcom general manager Vince Kropp spoke to cooperative members extensively about the increasing demand for robust internet connection and improved broadband. Despite being known as the telephone company, this year PC Telcom has continued the ongoing trend of serving fewer telephone customers and more broadband.
A total of 120 registered members were in attendance at the annual meeting Thursday, March 30, at the Holyoke High School auditorium.
While there is national concern that rural areas need better broadband, Kropp noted with pride that PC Telcom offers a state-of-the-art internet service that could compete with any network in Colorado.
PC Telcom’s $10 million investment to bring fiber optics to the area, along with the Colorado Communications Transport fiber ring, allow customers to enjoy a level of broadband service that is available in very few areas of the country, Kropp noted. PC Telcom is one of the founding members of CCT, whose network is a self-healing ring.
Kropp cited Governor John Hickenlooper’s goal to achieve 100 percent access to broadband in the state of Colorado by 2020 as evidence of widespread demand for quality internet access.
