PC Telcom director Jerold Brandt receives NTCA certification

Since being elected to the Phillips County Telephone Company board of directors in 2009, Dr. Jerold Brandt has made a point of seeking out educational opportunities to better serve PC Telcom and its members. As of June 1, he completed the necessary NTCA courses to receive the Director Core Curriculum Certificate.
NTCA-The Rural Broadband Association represents over 800 independent, community-based telecommunications companies, including PC Telcom. Its director certificate program is designed to “expose directors to the principles and concepts that will help them become highly effective members of their board.” Four key areas of study are policy, technology, business and governance.
Though the courses aren’t a requirement for directors, Brandt chose to complete them simply because “a well-educated board member helps make better decisions.”
The majority of the courses are offered during NTCA’s fall conference and its Rural Telecom Industry Meeting and Expo each year, though some courses can be completed at other special meetings.
