Perkins to shoot feature film ‘Small Town Remedies’

Randy Perkins, son of Holyoke’s Sherry Simms, has nearly finished crowdfunding his latest dramatic comedy, which he hopes to release through his production company, Juteback Productions, LLC, at the end of this year.
“Small Town Remedies” follows two adult siblings, Lita and Evan, who return home to care for their relapsed alcoholic mother and, in doing so, come to recognize problems in their own personal lives.
Perkins characterizes the film as a dramatic comedy. It addresses themes of family dysfunction similar to those explored in his 2017 film, “Crash and Burn Stories.”
The crowdfunding model is new for Perkins, who said the film’s $7,400 budget is sufficient, even if it is slightly above shoestring.
“We’ll have bigger shoestrings than we did before, but our budget will still be pretty tight,” he said.
