Phillips County well-represented at National Western Stock Show

As the 113th National Western Stock Show wrapped up in Denver, several local youth returned home with honors to show for their efforts. 2019 Phillips County Fair royalty represented the county, members of Holyoke High School’s chapter of FFA attended, and several local individuals showed livestock throughout the Jan. 12-28 event.

Phillips County Fair queen Janessa Lutze of Holyoke and princess Megan Walker of Haxtun did a fine job of representing northeast Colorado while helping with the NWSS.
Both girls participated in the Thursday, Jan. 10, parade in downtown Denver, and Lutze was honored to carry the banner for parade grand marshal Dana Crawford. Fair and rodeo royalty from across the state also gathered for some line dancing in front of Union Station.
The following week, the two girls spent a day volunteering at the stock show Wednesday, Jan. 16. They assisted with events including a stick horse rodeo and an art show.
