Planning Commission meeting touches on proposed regulations, land use code

Thirteen members of the general public attended the Phillips County Planning Commission’s public hearing, held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, in the Biesemeier Room at the Phillips County Event Center. The purpose of the hearing was to receive public comments regarding the proposed land use code, parking and loading guidelines, and the Junk and Weed Control Resolution. The proposed land use code is intended to replace the current county zoning regulations. Drafts of these governing documents were made available in recent weeks for inspection by the public.

Gary Koch, chairman of the planning commission, first opened a business meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by thanking everyone for attending. He then expressed his appreciation for the service of the immediate past chairman, Richard Starkebaum. He welcomed newcomers to the commission, Mike Salyards and Dan Waln.
