Kindra Plumb’s unsurpassed devotion to 4-H, among other attributes, led to her being named Phillips County’s 2019 Friend of 4-H. She was recognized at the Oct. 6 Phillips County 4-H achievement program at the Phillips County Event Center.

4-H members representing the six county 4-H clubs were also honored for their achievements through Better Beef Makers, Challengers, Haxtun Pioneers, Holyoke Centennial, Paoli Hustlers and Raising Ranchers.

Plumb, who served as the 4-H agent in Phillips County from 2010 through this past August, was acknowledged as one who is always willing to help out when needed.

She is a 4-H alumni from Yuma County. Actively involved in coaching and assisting with the 4-H judging team, she also has a passion for growing kids through the Cowboy Ethics and Be Somebody programs.

Lauren Bergner, 2018-19 Phillips County 4-H Council president, announced Plumb’s Friend of 4-H honor, supported by the entire council.

In other special awards presented Oct. 6, Kylee Workman was honored with the “I Dare You” leadership award. She received a copy of William H. Danforth’s book, “I Dare You,” sponsored by Rick and Kathy Haynes.

Also at Sunday’s program, Bergner gave a presentation on her June trip to Washington, D.C., for the Citizenship Washington Focus program, and Hunter Donovan presented a year-in-review slide show.

Club completion certificates were awarded to each of the six clubs for their membehsip completing at least 75% of the projects they enrolled in. Community pride activities completed by each club were reviewed, as well.

The annual awards program was also an ideal time to introduce and welcome Deeona Johnston, new Phillips County family and consumer science agent.
