Produce safety training offered in Greeley

The Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, and Colorado Department of Agriculture will host an all-day produce safety rule training Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Weld County Extension Office, 525 N. 15th Ave. in Greeley.
Completion of this Produce Safety Alliance training will enable growers to comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act. The training offers simultaneous translation into Spanish for no additional charge.
During the full day training, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., participants will learn about produce safety, FSMA, Good Agricultural Practices, natural resources and food safety. Fruit and vegetable growers and anyone else interested in these topics is invited to attend.
Those successfully completing the course will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials that verifies course completion.
“This training is conveniently scheduled to follow the Greeley Farm Show to accommodate those traveling long distances,” said Martha Sullins, Colorado State University Extension, who is coordinating the CFVGA training.
