Holyoke High School sophomore Kylie Purkeypile put Holyoke on the map when she was selected as an FBLA Colorado state officer representing District 4.
She competed in a rigorous selection process at the state leadership conference April 22-24 at the Gaylord of the Rockies in Denver.
The Holyoke FBLA chapter is honored to have a state officer leading the approximately 7,500 FBLA members in Colorado among the 230,000 students nationwide.
“I’m excited to step up my leadership,” said Purkeypile, noting that one of her inspirations to try out for the position was her cousin Whitni Redman, who was selected as a state officer in 2011.
In her new role, Purkeypile’s main responsibility will be to organize and implement the District 4 leadership conference at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling next February.
She will also help with the 2019 state fall leadership conference and the 2020 state leadership conference in addition to attending multiple meetings throughout the year in Colorado and several other states.
Along with Holyoke FBLA adviser Lori Nelson, Purkeypile will be the communication liaison for the schools in District 4, including Haxtun, Julesburg, Caliche, Fleming, Peetz, Sterling, Revere, Weldon Valley and Wray.
Next up for Purkeypile? A possible run for state president in April 2020.

Forty HHS FBLA students attended the state leadership conference to compete against 3,300 other FBLA students from across the state to determine who would qualify to attend national FBLA in San Antonio, Texas, June 29-July 3.
