Rehab department adds staff, services at MMH

After seeing much growth in the past year, the rehabilitation department at Melissa Memorial Hospital continues to expand, adding more new services for local patients.

The two most recent additions to the department in 2020 include an occupational therapist and a physical therapist.

Amanda Wyscarver, MOTR/L, joined the department full time in February as an occupational therapist. No, she doesn’t help people find jobs. She does, however, help patients be more independent and safe during activities of daily living.

Wyscarver believes occupational therapy should be a holistic experience, so she makes it a point to treat the whole body, not just one part of it.

Some other services she provides include home safety assessments, wheelchair evaluations and working with kids who have difficulty doing age-appropriate tasks.
