The Skillet closes its doors

A mainstay restaurant in Holyoke for 37 1/2 years, The Skillet Restaurant’s final day of operation at 130 W. Denver St. in Holyoke was Saturday, Aug. 28.

The closing marks the end of close to four decades of successful business operation and providing a service to the community and surrounding areas.

Angie Hofmeister opened the restaurant on March 1, 1984, leasing the building and fixtures from her parents, Dale and Patricia Hofmeister. Upon their deaths, she purchased the restaurant and continued to operate the business.

Longtime dedicated employee Chris Lehman has been the friendly face of business at The Skillet, greeting customers for 35 of those 37 1/2 years.

While The Skillet is no longer in business, Hofmeister and Lehman are looking to sell or lease the restaurant so that the needs of the community can continue to be met.
