Thompson’s Grill and Market offers dining, meat and more

A new dining option is now available in Holyoke after family restaurant Thompson’s Grill and Market opened for business Thursday, March 10.

Restaurant owners Jackie and Toby Thompson opened the new business at 130 W. Denver St., the old location of The Skillet. Their daughter, Emma, will also be helping out around the restaurant in numerous capacities.

Jackie said Thompson’s Grill and Market has been in the works for over a year. “I’ve always been around the food industry,” she said.

Thompson’s Grill and Market offers both dine-in and takeout options, including steaks, burgers, sandwiches, baskets and pasta dishes.

One menu item Jackie specifically mentioned is the Big T burger, which has cream cheese with diced jalapeños melted on the burger, which is also topped with two jalapeño poppers.

There are also grab-and-go sandwiches and salads available for people to stop by and get a meal to go if they don’t have time to sit down during their work lunch break, for example.

There is also a meat case with freshly sliced meat that includes 1855 beef and white marble pork.

Jackie has had lots of meat-cutting and butchering experience in her time at Holyoke Super. She was taught by her dad, Rocky Bieber, and her grandpa, Dale Hofmeister. She was also the first meat manager at Holyoke Marketplace and worked with Angie Hofmeister at The Skillet for many years.

Another case at the restaurant is from “our kitchen to your oven,” Jackie said. This case has homemade meals that people can take home and cook for themselves.

There are also specialty items available, like old-fashioned hard candy from Fort Collins and more. Jackie said the offered specialty items will keep changing and updating.

The market side of the business is open 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday. The restaurant side is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. the same days. The phone number is 970-854-2160.
