Nosewicz, Lundquist take golf tourney by 9 strokes Sunday

Nick Nosewicz and Gus Lundquist carded a 129 to win the May 27-28 Art Vollmer Memorial Day Best Ball Golf Tournament in Holyoke.

They finished nine strokes under the next two teams, which tied for second and third in the championship flight with a 138.

Jeff Yahn and Chuck Haupt tied with Jeremy Thompson and Josh Roberts for the second- and third-place honors.

Sixty-eight golfers making up 34 teams competed in the weekend tournament this year.

First-flight winners were Joe Backewicz and Brett Backewicz, tying with Rusty Triplette and Kelly Siebrands for first and second; and John Chorney and Brian Primavera, third.

Second-flight winners were Mike Foor and Fred Raish, first; Justin Herman and Ryan Feely, second; and Larry McConnell and Scott Kirkwood, third.
