Rockies Skills Challenge coming to Holyoke May 27

After a lapse of over 15 years, Holyoke is once again hosting the Rockies Baseball Skills Challenge Saturday, May 27, at the City Ballpark for boys and girls ages 6-13. Registration for the free event is at 9:30 a.m., and the program begins at 10 a.m.

Youth can compete against peers in base running, batting and throwing, and separate divisions are offered for boys and girls. The age divisions are 6-7, 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. Age is determined as of Dec. 31, 2017, and winners at the local level will have to show a valid birth certificate for age verification.

In each division, local winners will have a chance to compete at sectionals in July, and sectional winners will move on to the state championship Saturday, Aug. 5, at Coca-Cola All Star Park in Lakewood. All state finalists receive four tickets to the Colorado Rockies v. Phillies game at Coors Field that evening.
