‘Fairy Tale’ event planners prepping for an enchanted evening
This year’s Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation Legacy Event – set for Feb. 11 at the Phillips County Event Center – carries the “Fairy Tale” theme, and according to Executive Director Penny Bailey, she and fellow board members are having a lot of fun planning it.
Upon entering the event, guests will follow the “Yellow Brick Road,” find tables with various fairy tale centerpieces, and be captivated by themed food and decorations. Additionally, throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to nominate and vote for “Best Male,” “Best Female” and “Best Couple” character costumes. At the end of the evening, there will be a “Royal Processional” of all nominees, then the runners-up will be crowned Prince and Princess, and winners will be crowned the King and Queen of the evening.
There are several new events scheduled this year. First, is that Chef Sarah Wills at Ballyneal volunteered to plan, prepare and organize the food for the event. Some of the delights she has planned are “Ursula’s Unfortunate Shrimp,” “Mulan’s Lucky Pork Dumplings” and more. The entrée consists of “Gaston’s Slayed Beast,” “Jack’s Green Beans Stalk” and “Purple Peruvian Potatoes.” This will be followed by an assortment of pastries representative of “Alice’s Tea Party.”
