‘Small Town Remedies’ nets 2 awards at film festival

Sherry Simms has seen her share of films as general manager of the Peerless Theatre, so it may come as no surprise that her son, R.W. Perkins of Loveland, is an award-winning filmmaker.

His second feature film, “Small Town Remedies,” premiered at the Horsetooth International Film Festival, which ran from Sept. 8-12.

The film garnered two awards at the festival: The Audience Choice Award (Feature Film) and the Horsetooth Award.

The Horsetooth Award is presented to the production that does the most to lift up the film art form in the community.

“I’m very proud of Randy,” Simms said. “He sets his mind to something and just goes for it full force. He never hesitates to try something new.”
