25 teams compete in renewed 3-on-3 basketball tourney

They had the day off from school, but a whole tournament’s worth of students in grades 1-8 spent the day hard at work anyway. A total of 25 teams made up of nearly 100 players competed in the Dragons 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Holyoke High School on Monday, Jan. 15.
Sponsored by Holyoke’s city recreation department and the Dragon Booster Club, the event brought in teams from Holyoke, as well as a number of other communities, some traveling from Nebraska.
In the grade 1-2 age group, the Tornadoes finished first. The team included Brandon Adler, Bodhyn Ring and Dathyn Dirks. Second place went to the Denver Nuggets, and third to the 4 Amigos.
Laffy Taffy was the first-place team in the girls grade 3-4 division. Team members were Anessa Colglazier, Courtlyn Kinnie and Isabelle Kropp. The Stars finished second, and Tiny but Mighty came in third.
In boys grade 3-4, the Heat claimed first. The team was made up of Brody Sheffield, Kevin Hernandez and Reyli Trejo. Finishing second were the Dribbling Dogs, followed by Holyoke 2026.
