$2M grant to help behavioral health crisis

The Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health has received a $2 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to shore up behavioral health crisis services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The money is part of SAMHSA’s allocation from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.

With this grant, OBH will help connect Coloradans affected by COVID-19 with proper behavioral health care. This includes children, adolescents and adults who have serious emotional disturbances, serious mental illness and substance use disorders.

“With this funding boost, we want individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 to have behavioral health care available to them,” said OBH Director Robert Werthwein.
