3 generations bundle up to raise funds, cancer awareness in MMH Glow-a-thon

This three-generation group was among the walkers/runners who braved cool, misty, windy weather Saturday evening, Sept. 28, to participate in the Melissa Memorial Hospital Glow-a-thon 5K. Despite the weather, hospital spokesperson Elizabeth Hutches said they feel they had a great event. “And we are so thankful for all the support of our community,” she added. While 40 signed up for the evening Glow-a-thon, weather took a few out. Participants were given glow bracelets, and paper lanterns lit the way down a path around the hospital. There were 40 luminaria shining light in memory or in honor of people who have had cancer. Early numbers show that around $500 was raised for final costs for the Londa Wernet Bradford Cancer Center, as well as fundraising for MMH’s 3D digital mammography.
