4-H campers take hands-on learning to the next level

Call it elementary ballistics — the Phillips County 4-H summer camp drew a dozen campers for two days of arrow-nocking, rocket-launching fun June 12 and 13.
Organizer Tracy Trumper said the camp was created to give children ages 8-14 a hands-on STEM learning experience while promoting the 4-H program.
“Part of it is just to give kids the opportunity to do something fun in the summer, but also we’re always trying to highlight what 4-H is, and what 4-H has to offer them,” she said.
Campers learned about water conservancy and the importance of hydration through a lesson that included a water balloon toss. They also built miniature rockets, which were launched on the second day.
