O’Neal v. City hearing set for Feb. 24

A one-day evidentiary hearing in the district court case involving Rupert and Claire O’Neal v. the City of Holyoke has been scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24, starting at 9:30 a.m. in Phillips County District Court in Holyoke.

Judge Charles M. Hobbs granted the hearing on the quiet title decree pertaining to the legal description of the City’s “pit” property located behind Cobblestone Inn & Suites at 805 S. Interocean Ave.

While the court has not ruled on the disputed question of whether a maintenance plan must be part of the quiet title decree, Hobbs did order the City to submit, in writing, its proposed maintenance order. A time extension for that order was also granted.

EMS to hold community meeting Feb. 8

The emergency medical services crew at Melissa Memorial Hospital will be hosting a special community meeting Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. at the clinic waiting room at MMH, 1001 E. Johnson St. in Holyoke.

The purpose of the meeting is to hear past concerns, get input, report current changes and improvements, and move forward as a community.

Salad luncheon to celebrate library

Grab a salad and a friend for Friends of the Library’s annual salad luncheon Monday, Feb. 6, at 11:30 a.m. at Phillips County Museum. The theme is “Reading is a Discount Ticket to Everywhere.”

Food bank open Thursday afternoons

First United Methodist Church reminds residents that their food bank is open every Thursday from 3-4 p.m. at 230 E. Furry St., Holyoke (east door). Non-perishable food items and meat are available for anyone to take home.
