Emerald Award winners announced
After nominations made by Holyoke School District employees and a selection process conducted by local program sponsors, three school staff members have been announced as the 2019 Emerald Award winners. Melanie Wheeler is the Innovator of the Year, Carly Daniel has been named Leader Among Us, and Rhonda Smith will be recognized with the Heart Award.
Recipients will be showcased in a special section in The Holyoke Enterprise Thursday, April 25, and will be honored at a public reception that evening at the Peerless Center.
Recreation department offers spring break activities next week
City of Holyoke Recreation Department is sponsoring two fun activities for kids next week during spring break. “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” will be showing at the Peerless Theatre Monday, March 18, at 1 p.m. On Thursday, March 21, Holyoke Swimming Pool will be open from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Swimmers under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
Holyoke Elementary School and Holyoke JR/SR High School will not have class Monday-Friday, March 18-22, for spring break.
St. Patrick’s Card Party is Sunday
Pitch, pinochle and bridge are all part of the annual St. Patrick’s Day Card Party Sunday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church Hall. Prizes, sandwiches and homemade pie will also help make it a fun evening of cards.
