FCA  youth group kicks off next Wednesday

All junior high and high school students are invited to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes kickoff Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 6:30-9 p.m. at Holyoke City Park. The free event includes a barbecue dinner, games, music and a speaker.

City recreation department prepares for flag football, women’s volleyball seasons

The City of Holyoke Recreation Department is organizing flag football teams, and registration is due Friday, Aug. 30. The season runs from Sept. 3-Oct. 3 for boys and girls in grades 1-4. Practices are every Tuesday and Thursday. Forms are available at facebook.com/HolyokeRec.

The recreation department is also looking for players for the women’s volleyball league, which plays on Monday nights beginning Sept. 16. Registration is due Friday, Sept. 6. Gatorade Games are Friday

To get a first glimpse of the Holyoke High School volleyball and football teams, head over to the school for the Gatorade Games Friday, Aug. 23. The volleyball team will have an intersquad scrimmage at 4 p.m., followed by football at 5 p.m. Admission is one bottle of Gatorade, which will be used by the Dragon Booster Club in their support of Holyoke athletics throughout the year.
