Honor band concert open to the public

Community members are invited to hear some of the best musicians in the region perform at the annual honor band concert Monday, Jan. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Holyoke High School auditorium. The free concert will feature junior high and high school band students from schools in the area.

 

Basketball skills challenge is Sunday

The Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge, hosted by the City of Holyoke Recreation Department, is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26. Check-in begins at 1:15 p.m. at the Holyoke High School new gym. Boys and girls can compete in divisions for ages 6-7, 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 (age as of April 30, 2019). Local winners will advance to sectionals Sunday, Feb. 23, in Windsor. Sectional winners will receive four tickets to a Nuggets game this spring and will compete at the state level that day.

Blood drive set for Friday, Jan. 31

The next American Red Cross blood drive is Friday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1000 E. Johnson St., Holyoke. To schedule a time to donate blood, visit www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time.
