Smorgasbord meal, concert is next Tuesday

Holyoke Music Parents Association is hosting its annual smorgasbord meal fundraiser Tuesday, March 3, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Holyoke Elementary School cafeteria. The meal includes roast beef or pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, roll, tea or water, and dessert. Food is also available in to-go boxes. Tickets will be sold at the door, or band and choir students can be contacted for tickets ahead of time.

A free concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Holyoke High School auditorium, featuring band members in grades 5-12, choir students in grades 7-12 and Sound Check. This year’s theme is “Music Changes Lives.”

2 seats up for election on hospital board

At a May 5 election, two directors will be elected to serve four-year terms on the East Phillips County Hospital District board. Eligible electors interested in serving on the board may pick up a self-nomination and acceptance form from Cathy Harshbarger, designated election official, at 1001 E. Johnson St. in Holyoke from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Feb. 28. Affidavit of intent to be a write-in candidate forms must be submitted by Monday, March 2. Anyone with questions should call 970-854-2241.

Incumbents Sheila Gift and Gary Rahe said they will both be running for reelection.

Mental health is topic of March 5 event

Jaime Soucie, a regional training consultant from the Colorado School Safety Resource Center, will be presenting on mental health awareness on Thursday, March 5, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Holyoke High School. Community members and parents are invited to attend.
