A message from the City on toilets, trash

Amidst a nationwide toilet paper shortage, the City of Holyoke reminds residents that the only things that can be flushed down toilets are toilet and tissue paper, water and human waste. Towelettes/wipes that say “flushable” shouldn’t be flushed! The City has experienced an increased number of clogged pumps and backups in the main sewers because of foreign material being flushed.

The City aslo requests that residents bag their household garbage before putting it in trash dumpsters to ensure the health and safety of employees.
