Cruise night is back by popular demand

Holyoke Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a cruise night this Saturday, Sept. 12. Holyoke Police Department will lead the cruise from the Phillips County Fairgrounds parking lot at 6:30 p.m. Participating restaurants and the Peerless concessions stand will be offering specials to enjoy during the cruise.

Group formed for parents of gifted children

There is a new avenue of education, information and networking for parents of gifted and talent pool children in northeast Colorado. The Northeast Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented is launching Thursday, Oct. 1, with its first meeting in a remote format.

NECAGT is an affiliate of Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented. The primary purposes of this statewide advocacy group are to assist with understanding of gifted students and their needs, provide training to teachers and professionals in the field, provide families with information on the unique needs of their gifted students and how to advocate for them, and support laws and policies that assure gifted and talented students have access to appropriate educational programs.

NECAGT will be a supporting organization that addresses the specific needs of gifted and talented students in northeast Colorado.

The first meeting will address the benefits of membership, release a meeting plan for the 2020-21 school year and host a speaker on the topic “Navigating the Maze of Advocacy for Your Gifted Child.”

Meeting details and the Zoom link can be found at www.tinyurl.com/necagtmeetings. There is no formal membership required to join in this meeting, and parents of any identified gifted student or parents with students in the talent pool at their school are welcome to attend.
