Commissioner meeting moved to event center

The Wednesday, Sept. 30, meeting of the Phillips County Board of County Commissioners has been moved to the Biesemeier Room at the Phillips County Event Center. At 9:30 a.m., the board agenda cites a decision on the conditional use permit for Weldco Farms LLC.

Census surveys due next Wednesday

The deadline for the 2020 census is Wednesday, Sept. 30. Residents are encouraged to visit 2020census.gov to file online or call 844-330-2020. The form, which only takes a few minutes, does not ask about U.S. citizenship and is available in 13 languages. Colorado’s self-response rate was reported at 69.3% earlier this week, Phillips County was 67.9%, and Holyoke was 68.4%.

Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities, and it determines how many seats in Congress each state gets.

Bennet sets fall listening sessions

Instead of holding in-person listening sessions, this year Phillips County residents are encouraged to schedule a phone appointment with a representative of Colorado U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet. His team is committed to listening to concerns, answering questions and helping residents navigate federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration and more.

James Thompson, Bennet’s regional director in Fort Collins, will be available by phone Wednesday afternoons, Sept. 30, Oct. 7 and Oct. 14. To make an appointment, email james_thompson@bennet.senate.gov or call 970-224-2200.
