Pigeon race is Oct. 17

With two of its annual fundraisers already canceled this year due to COVID-19, Early Childhood Council Logan, Phillips, Sedgwick has announced a new virtual fundraiser this fall. The Flight for Funds Virtual Pigeon Race is set for Saturday, Oct. 17. The racing pigeons, provided by Tyler Graber of Olumpus Loft, will begin their flight at 7:30 a.m. in Ogallala, Nebraska, and race 90 miles to Sterling, arriving at approximately 9 a.m. Each bird will have its own chip band to track their arrival, which will be posted on the ECCLPS Facebook page. The first place and last place pigeons will be announced, and their corresponding ticket holders will be awarded cash prizes.

The funds raised will support professional development training, scholarships for continuing education, prelicensing classes, program quality improvements, parenting classes, child abuse awareness, Week of the Young Child and other community events.

To purchase a ticket, contact any ECCLPS board member, call 970-526-2440 or email ecclps.zink@gmail.com.
