Watch for counterfeit money; 2 fake $100 bills found in town
Businesses in town need to be on the lookout for counterfeit $100 bills. Holyoke Police Department received reports of two counterfeit bills last week.
The bills were very convincing, and the counterfeit marker used by most retail locations would have marked the bill as if it were real. They may have been printed on real currency, such as a $1 or $5 bill. Both counterfeit bills were marked with the date 1990.
Contact a bank for assistance on how to tell the difference between fake and real currency.
