Halloween activities set for Oct. 30

With no school the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 30, Holyoke is giving kids some Halloween activities to keep them entertained.

The Peerless Theatre is sponsoring “Hocus Pocus” at 1 p.m. (The movie will also be sponsored Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m.)

From 2-5 p.m. Friday, Holyoke Chamber of Commerce is planning a Trick-or-Treat the Town event. Look for a list of participating businesses in next week’s Enterprise.

While Melissa Memorial Hospital decided to cancel its Trunk or Treat event, the chamber is hoping to be able to proceed with its event.

 

Harvest party is Oct. 28 at First Baptist

First Baptist Church is hosting a harvest party for kids in grades K-6 and their parents next Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 6:30-8 p.m. The free evening will include hay rides, games, face painting, a hot dog meal and more. Attendees should wear masks and social distance.

 

Concert series to start in fall of 2021

Phillips County Arts Council recently announced it will not be starting a concert series until fall of 2021. The decision was made based on COVID-19 regulations and precautions.

 

Sign up for Nov. 22 gingerbread contest

Colorado State University Extension is hosting a Deck the House gingerbread decorating contest Sunday, Nov. 22, from 2-6 p.m. Teams of two (12 years and up) will be competing for two tickets to the Gaylord of the Rockies’ Dec. 12 theatrical display.

Gingerbread villages will be provided along with white fondant, icing and limited candies. Contestants may bring edible decorations and 2-foot-by-2-foot backdrops. Twenty spots are available. Register by Monday, Nov. 9, by calling 970-854-3616. Location will be determined based on number of teams.
