National Day of Prayer event is next Thursday

A National Day of Prayer event is scheduled for Thursday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church in Holyoke and on Facebook Live. The theme is “Lord Pour Out Your Love, Life and Liberty,” which focuses on 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

The Seven Pillars of Influence that will be prayed for by pastors and leaders are family, church, military, education, business/marketplace, media arts and government. After prayer, there will be communion and the reading of the national prayer.

 

Music department invites community to concerts next week

Holyoke School District’s music students will be taking the stage next week at the JR/SR high auditorium. The public can attend but must wear masks throughout the performances. Those who cannot attend in person are encouraged to watch online on the Holyoke TV Production YouTube page.

On Monday, May 3, elementary students will be celebrating Christmas in May since they didn’t get to have their usual holiday program. Kindergarten is from 12:30-1 p.m., followed by second grade from 1:30-2 p.m. Fourth grade is performing “Christmas at the OK Corral” from 2:30-3:15 p.m.

On Tuesday, May 4, students from first and third grades are doing a combined program called “The Rainbow Connection” from 2:30-3:15 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 5, junior high and high school vocalists are presenting a concert at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, May 6, fifth through 12th grade band musicians will be performing at 7 p.m.

 

No school Friday

Students and teachers at Holyoke School District will get the day off Friday, April 30.
