Fireworks show planned for Sunday

Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fireworks show is Sunday, July 4, around 9:15 p.m. The fireworks will be set off in the same location as last year — near the airport just southeast of town. HVFD has donation buckets out in local businesses this week to raise money for next year’s July 4 fireworks show.

Baptist church to host July 4 meal, games

First Baptist Church’s parking lot at 1000 E. Johnson St. will be the place to be for food and fun Sunday, July 4. A hot dog meal kicks off the evening at 5:30 p.m., and a variety of games and a water zone begin at 6 p.m. Stick around to watch Holyoke’s fireworks show when the sun goes down. The event also includes prizes, giveaways, balloons and glow necklaces/bracelets. Freewill donations will go to the Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department.

Enterprise will be closed Monday

In observance of Independence Day, the Enterprise will be closed Monday, July 5. Any news or advertising that can be submitted by Friday, July 2, will be appreciated.

Health emergency declaration rescinded

In April 2020, the Northeast Colorado Health Department Board of Health signed a resolution declaring a local public health emergency for the special district of NCHD. During its meeting June 23, the board rescinded the resolution. “The public health emergency declaration is no longer needed for our ongoing COVID-19 pandemic response,” said director Trish McClain. The district includes Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties. While cases of COVID-19 have been declining in the district, NCHD is closely monitoring the delta variant.
