Food items, gift cards available for those experiencing food insecurity
Phillips County Department of Human Services, located at 127 E. Denver St. in Holyoke, has food items available for Phillips County residents who are experiencing food insecurity due to COVID-19. The food can be accessed in the lobby Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Gift cards for Holyoke Marketplace are also available at the First United Methodist Church food pantry at 230 E. Furry St. The cards can be picked up from 3-4 p.m. on Fridays, July 9, 16, 23 and 30. It is limited to one care per family at each distribution.
Jake Gill concert is next Wednesday
The community is invited to an evening of country music in the open air. Jake Gill will be performing a concert Wednesday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at Homesteaders Park at the Phillips County Fairgrounds in Holyoke. Attendees should take their lawn chairs. Proceeds from a freewill donation will help the Platte Valley Rodeo Bible Camp. Snacks and pop will also be available for purchase.
Gill grew up in Kansas and established a chiropractic office in Hutchinson before turning his focus to a career in country music. One of his favorite things is connecting with the crowds during his concert tours each year.
Submit events for community calendar
The annual Holyoke community and school calendar is being organized for 2021-22. Submissions for events, meetings, etc. should be made by Thursday, July 15, by emailing the chamber at director@holyokechamber.org or the school at kruegerbr@hcosd.org.
