Register for fall classes Monday

Phillips County Family Education Services is hosting a registration night for fall classes Monday, Aug. 30, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center. Barbecue is Saturday at Wages Fire Hall

Wages Volunteer Fire Department is hosting is annaul hamburger and brat barbecue and fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 28, from 5-8 p.m. at the Wages Fire Hall. Attendees should head south of Paoli to Yuma County Road 57 between T and U. There will be family fun with firetruck rides.

 

Inklings to feature Schneider on Saturday

Rachel Schneider will be at Inklings Bookstore this Saturday, Aug. 28, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to talk about the book she recently translated. “Inkarrí” is the second book of the “Secret File” series by German author André Milewski. While it is currently an e-book, Schneider will have copies of the cover to sign.

 

FDA approves Pfizer vaccine

On Aug. 24, the Food and Drug Administration gave approval to Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for those age 16 and up. While it’s the first to receive this designation, all available COVID-19 vaccines have been proven safe and effective and are authorized for emergency use. The state remains focused on vaccinating as many eligible Coloradans as possible.

From Jan. 1-Aug. 16, 98% of COVID-19 cases reported in Colorado have been among the unvaccinated. More than 3.5 million Coloradans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 3.2 million are fully immunized.
