‘Winning Big’ is homecoming theme
Several activities for the school and community are planned for this year’s “Winning Big” homecoming week Monday-Saturday, Oct. 4-9.
Students will have the chance to participate in dress-up days early in the week, capped off with high school Olympics and a JR/SR high barbecue Thursday, Oct. 7.
On Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., the homecoming parade will travel south on Interocean Avenue, followed immediately by a pep rally at the football field.
Parade entry forms (https://forms.gle/37A8WqY5KMCFAoGR8) are due by Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. Entries should be in line on Bignel Street by 2 p.m. Thursday, and adult drivers are required.
On Friday, Oct. 8, walk-in tours of the school are available for community members from 9 a.m.-noon, featuring the new updates from this summer’s construction project.
The week’s home athletic events include softball vs. Yuma on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m., volleyball vs. Wray on Friday, Oct. 8, at 4 p.m. and football vs. Wray on Friday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. Homecoming royalty will be crowned at halftime of the football game.
The week ends with a high school dance Saturday evening, Oct. 9, at the old gym.
Mark Hillman to speak Sunday on ‘What Happened to Common Sense?’

Players postpone dinner theater again
Phillips County Players has postponed its dinner theater/play “Let Him Sleep ’Til It’s Time for the Funeral” to 2022.
