New special section to showcase fair results

Community lunch focuses on school funding
A lunch meeting — open to anyone in the community — is set for Monday, Aug. 7, to discuss school funding in Colorado as well as what funding looks like for Holyoke School District Re-1J. Lunch will be provided to those who attend the meeting at noon at the Peerless Center in Holyoke.
Attendees will hear about the need for mill levies, the implications of school funding in Colorado and how Holyoke School District has successfully implemented and used a mill levy override for nearly 10 years. Expert presenters from Great Education Colorado will address the group in addition to local presenters.

Hearing aid bank an opportunity to get or give
Does a friend or family member need help with the cost of hearing aids? Are there hearing aids that could be given away? The Sterling Lions Club has helped people in Phillips, Logan, Morgan, Yuma, Washington and Sedgwick counties by reconditioning recent-technology behind-the-ear hearing aids that have been donated to the project.
For info on how to apply to get reconditioned hearing aids, call Loni Stumpff at 970-522-6876 or Diana Brungardt at 970-522-8389.
To donate hearing aids, drop them off at one of the Lions eyeglasses drop boxes at Holyoke Community Federal Credit Union, Bank of Colorado, Bank of the West, First Pioneer National Bank or Melissa Memorial Hospital. Please put hearing aids in crushproof containers.
